We affirm the historic Christian faith as expressed in the Nicene Creed and hold to the following foundational beliefs.
-
God
We believe in one God—the almighty Father, Creator of heaven and earth, of all that is seen and unseen. He is eternal, sovereign, and perfectly holy.
-
Jesus Christ
We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only-begotten Son of God, begotten of the Father before all ages. He is true God from true God, Light from Light, begotten, not made, of one essence with the Father. Through Him all things were made.
For us and for our salvation, He came down from heaven, was incarnate by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He was crucified under Pontius Pilate, suffered, died, and was buried. On the third day, He rose again in accordance with the Scriptures. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and His kingdom will have no end.
-
Holy Spirit
We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord and Giver of Life, who proceeds from the Father (and the Son), and who is worshiped and glorified together with the Father and the Son. He has spoken through the prophets and is present and active in the world today.
We affirm that the gifts of the Spirit continue to operate within the Church and are given for the building up of the body of Christ, the strengthening of believers, and the advancement of the gospel—always under the authority of Scripture.
-
The Church and Baptism
We believe in one holy, catholic (universal), and apostolic Church made up of all who confess Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. We affirm believer’s baptism as an act of obedience and a public declaration of faith, symbolizing the believer’s union with Christ in His death, burial, and resurrection.
-
Sin and Salvation
We believe that all humanity is fallen by nature and by choice, separated from God because of sin. Apart from Christ, no one is righteous or capable of saving themselves.
We believe that salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone. It is not earned by works, but is a gift of God received through repentance and trust in the finished work of Jesus Christ. Those who are in Christ are fully justified, eternally secure, and adopted as children of God.
-
Sanctification
We believe that sanctification is the lifelong work of the Holy Spirit in every believer—transforming them into the likeness of Christ. Through daily surrender, obedience to God’s Word, and the power of the Spirit, believers grow in holiness, resist sin, and bear fruit in every good work.
Sanctification is distinct from justification but inseparably connected to it. While perfection is not attained in this life, the believer is called to pursue holiness with hope, endurance, and joy.
-
Scripture
We believe that the Holy Scriptures, both Old and New Testaments, are the inspired, infallible, and authoritative Word of God. Scripture is the final standard for all faith, doctrine, and life. All truth is God’s truth, and all knowledge is rightly ordered when submitted to His Word.
